The Glacier du Tour (Le Tour Glacier) on the Mont Blanc massif near Chamonix is by far one of the most beautiful and spectacular glaciers I have ever seen - this is alpinisme near Chamonix when it is at its best! The glacier is absolutely massive with colossal crevasses everywhere. Watch this alpine climbing vlog episode to find out what you can climb around the Glacier du Tour (Le Tour Glacier). The Glacier du Tour (Le Tour Glacier) offers spectacular alpine climbing. I reckon that the main attractions would be Aiguille du Chardonnet with its magnificent Migot Spur and the Forbes Arete. These are two super classics on the Mont Blanc massif - both on the same aiguille! Besides the Aiguille du Chadonnet, the Le Tour Glacier (Glacier du Tour) also offers excellent alpine climbing and alpinisme on the Aiguille Tour with its three easy alpine rock climbs, but also the exposed Arete du Table with its amazing table formed rock formation. A must-climb! The lesser known, but equally challenging Aiguille Purtscheller is a great alpine climb too, and a real test piece if your alpinisme skills are around grade 5. If you are looking for introductory and beginner alpine climbing routes on the Glacier du Tour (Le Tour Glacier) you should definitely take a look at climbing the ridges of the Tete Blanche which is clearly visible from the summit of Aiguille Purtscheller. Alpinisme on the Tete Blanche is also great for acclimatizing for tougher climbs higher up as all the alpine climbing routes there are easy, but yet offers a good altitude gain. The base for alpinisme at the Glacier du Tour (Le Tour Glacier) would be the Refuge Albert Premiere 1 hut that sits just where the glacier starts falling towards the village of Le Tour. The Refuge Albert Premiere 1 hut is a super modern mountain hut with lots of room. You will be served excellent food, and if that does not satisfy your hunger by can buy cake and snacks in the bar. They actually have a small assortment of a la carte servings too. Delicious! You can camp outside the hut, as we did, if there is no room at the hut, or if you at just looking for little more of an adventure. There are good bivvy spots just outside the Refuge Albert Premiere 1 hut.
